A bit about me...
I’m Devika Bahadur, a writer, researcher and educator working at the intersections of migration, material culture, gender and space. Currently in the final stages of a PhD in Material Culture Studies at De Montfort University, I explore how everyday objects and environments shape migrant identities. My work spans academic research, creative nonfiction and literary essays, often reflecting on place, memory, queerness and sociopolitical transitions across South Asia and its diasporas. I also teach across postgraduate design and research programmes and collaborate on community-engaged, practice-based research initiatives.

T-Extinction Exhibition, LCB Depot, Leicester: A collaborative poetic and soundscape installation with my PhD supervisor, commissioned by the School of Fashion and Textiles, De Montfort University. The piece reflected on the dissonance between extractive and nurturing language in material consumption, drawing on scholarship by Kate Fletcher and Matilda Tham.
